About

WineRabbi.com

WineRabbi.com was founded in recognition of the fact that today’s young, urban professionals often have too little time and too few resources for navigating their way through the vast – and sometimes confusing — world of wine.  It’s a shame, though.  Getting even just a whiff of a truly fine wine can be a transcendant experience — certainly not something to be missed because “things got too busy in the office.”  The trick is to be armed with reliable information.

In investment banking circles, the term “rabbi” is sometimes used to refer to an experienced colleague that has your best interests in mind.  Generally speaking, this is the goal of WineRabbi.com.  There’s an awful lot of information out there about wine, and WineRabbi.com is here to help make sure that you will have the resources you need to avoid wasting your money and time ever again.

Based in San Francisco, the founders of this Web site have learned through experience that both geographic proximity to wine country and having the time to dig for information can lead to finding stellar values in wine.  More succinctly, there is a “know”, and WineRabbi.com is here to bring you into it.

With WineRabbi.com on your side, you can be sure that you have the information you will need to enjoy the best the wine industry has to offer.

The Founders

Woody Allen once said, “A relationship, I think, is like a shark. You know? It has to constantly move forward or it dies. And I think what we got on our hands is a dead shark.”  The same can be said of a career in corporate law.

Christina and Josh Anzel began practicing law in New York City shortly after their marriage in 2003, but after many late nights in the office and with the idea of starting a family in mind, they moved to San Francisco hoping for a more predictable and less stressful weekday schedule.  The result was, well, mixed.  On the one hand, they’ve learned that working in a so-called “biglaw” firm can be about as demanding on the West coast as it is on the East coast.  On the other hand, they’ve brought a handsome and happy young boy into the world, and in addition to doting on him in their free time, they’ve developed a strong passion for wine.

Think about it: you move to New York, you should learn a little something about pizza and bagels; you move to Buenos Aires, you should learn to tango.  If you move to San Francisco, you should learn all there is to know about wine.   The Anzels have taken this to heart by spending much of their free weekends sampling wine in the various grape-producing regions of California and seeking out and exploring the lesser known wineries of the Golden State.
